Bad attitude, terrible service
Last June I took my Specialized Levo to Knipe Racing, the only bike shop in the Western Cape that repairs e-bikes. This particular shop then proceeded to repair my motor, and to my horror I was presented with a bill of R10.5K. Later I was to be old some of the parts that were replaced were “preventative”!!! In other words, they weren’t necessarily bust, but just in case. Fast forward to January 2026, 7 months later (2100km-thanks to Strava), the bike motor seized. I then take the bike back to Knipe Racing, to told that the same parts that were replaced in June the previous year, must be replaced. Again. At another R10.5k. THE SAME PARTS! So the obvious question pops up. Is there no warranty or guarantee on the work/parts previously done? Answer, emphatic NO! So now I must pay another R10.5k to get my bike back into shape. Here’s the crunch. A brand-new motor costs R22, 292. So all in all I could have got a new motor at the cost of 2x repairs. But wait, there’s more. So I decide to cut my losses and get the motor repaired, and request a quotation, only to be told they (Knipe Racing) no longer wish to do business with me!!!!. But hang on, I am already a client, having spent R10.5 with them seven months prior! I am then told to come collect my (un-repaired) bike, due to my accusations of bad workmanship, and my “fighting” attitude (see pics). So the net result of all of this is I sent the motor to Greg Minnar Cycles in Maritzburg, who quoted me HALF THE PRICE.
