1/5⭐️ - would be 0⭐️ if HelloPeter allowed - KKW ALUMINIUM WINDOW AND DOOR DESIGN

I hired Shaun Wilson owner of KKW Aluminium Doors & Windows in March 2026 for a straightforward windows and door installation: 1 stacking door and 4 small ca*****t windows, plus glass supply. The frames happened to be wood rather than aluminium, which he accepted despite specialising in aluminium. I paid a 70% deposit on 25 May 2026, on his promise that he'd "send pics as we go" and I could expect regular updates. (Silly of me to have done this, I now know!) It's now 18 August 2026. 85 days after that deposit. The job still isn't finished. In three months his team (2 guys) has been on site all of 2 times that I know of. The team came on site to install, and on that visit broke a piece of reed glass - during transportation- meant for a window. He promised it would be fixed within 4 days. Weeks later, it is still not done. Communication and lack of professionalism is the real problem. In five months of messages, Shaun has never once called me first. EVER! Every single update, every single chase, every "where are we" has come from me. Calls go unanswered for days. Quotes promised "this week" show up two to three weeks late. You better be ready to be the one who constantly chases him. It is now 85 days later (to install one door + a couple of ca*****t windows) and I have pushed back on the delays, his answer is that he doesn't specialise in wood windows installation and that the project "blew up in his face" because he doesn't know how to install wooden frames and oh he 'has much larger and bigger jobs to focus on'. He knew his lack of expertise regarding wooden frames going in, yet he quoted it, invoiced it, and took 70% of my money upfront anyway, and only raised it as an excuse 85 days later once I forced the conversation! His solution is now to offer to forfeit the remaining balance and tell me to go find and pay someone else to finish what he'd already been paid to do. I also went looking for a website or a Facebook page before writing this and found nothing. No online presence at all. In hindsight that should have been my first warning sign, and I'd treat it as one if I were you. Cape Town has no shortage of window and door installers with an actual track record. Save yourself the headache and go with one of them. Given how this played out, I wouldn't be surprised if I'm not the only person who's had this experience, though I can't confirm that myself. Learn from my experience - or not...
