Kiwi travel insurance does not cover Schengen. Take note

We got married in June 2019. We booked our flight tickets on Kiwi.com and they provided us with travel insurance. For the Schengen Visa application, we learned that the Kiwi.com travel insurance product does not gover Schengen areas. After communication Kiwi agreed that they will refund us. We left for Italy and when we returned to South Africa Kiwi send this response:

Thank you for getting back with us. We understand that you want to have your insurance cancellation request sorted out. However, with a heavy heart, we can no longer cancel it on our end as the only case where insurance cannot be canceled is when there is less than 48 hours prior to departure. We seek for your understanding regarding this matter. Should you have further questions, please don't hesitate to contact our 24/7 Customer Support. We will be more than happy to assist you. Kind regards, Marica C. Travel Consultant Kiwi.com.

We appealed as Kiwi sold us a product which did not meet our requirements. Just like buying shoes which does not fit after making the purchase and getting refunded, we feel Kiwi should have paid back the money the 'make so easy' off people.

So for those who want to travel to Italy, be aware of their travel insurance products. You will not be covered for this Schengen area and run the risk of losing your money.
