Kitchen Vibes ain't so Vibey
This was honestly the worst restaurant experience I have had in the past two years. Apparently they have great reviews but this was terrible and I had brought guests from overseas to experience authentic African cuisine. Firstly, the drinks options are limited from wine to local cold drinks. The wine option per glass is limited to one option. Fine that I can still live with but the food was another thing. We were a table of three, one of my guests ordered ***s feet with pap, they told him that they didn't have pap prepared and that we would have to wait for an hour before it can be ready. I don't know about you but pap doesn't really take that long........(they have a South African, West and East African Menu by the way), the other guest and myself say we would like the angel fish with couscous, which the waiter recommended as he told us that the fish portion was a reasonable size. The waiter comes back and says that they don't have couscous, in which my guest asked the waiter that there was a Spar and Woolworths downstairs and surely that they can source from there, in which the waiter refused and offered us normal rice instead, we totally refused and he finally caved in and the chef apparently made a plan. When our food arrived, the food was so tiny as if we ordered starters, I mean the *** feet had no meet at all just bones and the there was more pap which they claim can take an hour to prepare for more than the portion of meat. My other guest and I were just as bemused by our own portion size of the angel fish, which was not a fillet size but a fish small steak slither-en size. It was horrible. I was embarrassed, because I had suggested this place after I saw some great reviews about this place. I was really not happy and I don't want to see a business go down as a business owner myself but this situation needs to be corrected. The ambiance and decor are good though if that counts......
