Kitchen Delights bad experience

Kitchen Delights.

Anyone wanting to do business with Kitchen Delight we would advise against it because of the following reasons:

1. The company portrays themselves as a large company but they are very small. They do not have teams to do the work but rather opt to use people off the street to come into your home and do the work.

2. The owner Gareth Roberts only is seen once or twice and that is when he first measures and give the quote and maybe once more. They also never answer mails timeously.

3. He wants all the money upfront before even starting with the installation of the kitchen. If he has not received 90% then the units are not delivered. After this they are delivered in drips and drabs.

4. They charge an arm and a leg for the installation but pay the installer peanuts. The installer is good at what he does but he is bound to delivery from the company’s side which causes him to take a month to do the job that could have been completed in 2 weeks.

5. The time frame to install the kitchen units is promised at 2 weeks but it takes a month as the timber for the units has not been ordered or prepared.

6. The Project Manager is arrogant and has no manners.

7. Their after sales service is very poor. We contacted them to repair a few snags a week after the kitchen was completed it was a major event for them to come a fix the snags.

8. The client is second in their eyes. They have zero client relations capability.

9. They cannot issue you with a tax invoice as they do not have a VAT number.

10. They cannot issue you with any COC because they use people off the street.

11. They do not have closed vehicles to transport the timber product in when it rains, thus allowing the timber to be exposed to the elements while transporting.

12. There was some incompetence portrayed when we ordered the Granite for the Kitchen. It was supposed to be booked for us which never happened and when we went back to inquire about the granite it had already been sold off to someone else. It cost us more to change to a different type of slab. The owner refused to take responsibility for his slipup.

13. They try to force things down on you. My perception here is that they have surplus items that they are trying to get rid of.

14. The Cornice that has been installed is pulling lose from the ceiling and walls. We will need to get this repaired by another contractor.

15. We had to bring in our own plumbers to complete the plumbing due to the people that the company brings to do the work is off the street people. No COC can be issued due to this.

If you what a quality Kitchen installed professionally, do not use Kitchen Delights, you will not be impressed.

Good morning
I am at a loss of words to actually how to respond to this.
It is rather a common factor that any building site / project will always have its minor mishaps or tweaks. However we also encounter very toxic people from time to time as well. As with the case of Deon and Kathleen. Unfortunately there general unhappiness with life they unjustly take out on hard working companies like our own. Please please read further as I try to explain some of the un truths written and complete lies highlighted below. DEON and Kathleen you both know you did not tell the truth and tried to smear our business on a platform like this.
Point 1:
Nowhere on the internet, in conversation or any other form have we portrayed to be anything more than we are. A small to medium size family business. Both you Deon and Kathleen came to our HOME where we run the office and showroom. How you derived us as large company from that I have no idea. We also in turn have a 380m2 factory we rent in North Riding. Maybe that’s what you passed of as a BIG business. WE would never have said anything about being a large company. LIE 1
Point 2:
As an owner yes I am more involved on the beginning stages as well as I am always available during the days for my clients as well as my staff. The whole point of having a site manager is that they are the first communication channel and Johann who is a very very hardworking dedicated young man was present checking on all our sites every day. Correction Deon I made 4 trips to your site over a period of 4 weeks just to check on quality and progress. Your wife and you were also in constant communication as well. As for emails!!! If you are referring to the one email that you sent on a Friday evening and I only responded on the Monday then yes I suppose I am guilty of that one. You however give the impression that it is all my emails. LIE 2
Point 3:
I Quote ” He wants all the money upfront “ It is normal to request a deposit upfront. Our terms are 65% on order 25% once on site and balance on completion. You paid your 65% at the end of Nov 2016 with the aim of us starting 26th Jan 2017. We were on site on the 26th Jan as arranged only to find “ Your DANNY “ another builder also doing some things that we had quoted to do… I will elaborate shortly. Only a week after we started installing the carpentry did you pay the next 25% LIE 3
Point 4:
Simon is one of our best installers yes. You have no clue what we pay him so how can you even comment on that? Nowhere on our quotes have I even stated what our labour costs are but you have the arrogance to say we pay him peanuts. He is well well paid I can assure you. LIE 4
Point 5:
Once on site to install the kitchen yes we did say 2 weeks. However you seem to forget the stop start all the time because “your DANNY “ was doing other work in-between as well and “Your DANNY” had to complete first. This is a DUCO Sprayed kitchen not some cheap melamine one. I told you upfront if I bring all the faces and exposed panels to site I will not take responsibility for damages because there was another builder on site. Delays were cause by your side not ours. Not mention access to your estate where your wife would not let them in because she had gone to town etc. LIE 5
Point 6:
WOW anyone that has met Johann would completely disagree with you. He is the most accommodating person I know. I can imagine however after the 25th sms per day from you wife I may have gotten a bit worked up. Johann why are they drilling a hole…Johann what is this cupboard for…Johann they are 5 min late… Johann what time is their lunch break… Johann. I apologise if he did show a bit of arrogance its not the way we normally work.
Point 7
After sales service. Kathleen contacted us 1 day after completion to replace a glass shelf and 1 draw was sticking. We arrived on site 2 days after that and when we got to site she pointed out another 2 things. We attended to that then 2 days ater she had 2 more things. Small but the point of a snag list is we check the kitchen and you check the kitchen and we do the snags. Not come back every week for as long as you want etc. The biggest snag was a door that had 2 dull marks on the Duco. When we took it back to the factory we discovered “your DANNY” had messed paint on the door and tried to rub / sc**** the paint of. We tried fixing the door and in the end I ordered a new door and resprayed it. I didn’t even tell you because your answer would have been the same “ DANNY is perfect so he did not do it “ So it was not a major even but it took about 7 days to get the door and respray it.
Point 8:
Without our clients we would have no business. Clearly a statement on your side just to try and add some flavour to your posting. Surprising then how most of our clients have become our friends too, and can prove it.
Point 9:
Yes we are not VAT registered. A story far longer than needs to be explained on here. However I fail to see what our VAT number has to do with this posting or to the quality of our product?
Point 10:
COC certificates … WOW the biggest whopper of the lot. I quote from DEON “We wish to inform you that we would require a COC for electrical work done for our records. If you are unable to supply this, we will have it done and remove the cost from the outstanding balance” My reply
“ We are more than happy for GIVEN to supply a COC. He did have some concerns because Danny did a few things and you did a few things on the electrics as well. However if you would like to get your own guy to do it Given normally charges R 1200 for the Compliance certificate and you can remove it from the balance “
Point 11:
AGAIN not one piece of wood, painted item or even a ***** got wet in any of our deliveries. IF WE WERE a BIG COMPANY then we could afford to buy big closed trucks to supply our goods. All care is always taken with deliveries and we would not be stupid enough to deliver in the rain. Closed truck or not!!
Point12”
No Incompetence on our side. I have pictures and dates of the slab we book from ISS. The mistake was on their side, but as usual you blame us. Then you didn’t just try and change to a different slab. DEON. You tried to change from a standard granite to a branded quartz stone called Caesar Stone and expected Kitchen Delights to also carry the cost. WOW and we are arrogant!!! LIE again
Point 13:
Well your perception could not be more wrong. Im only impressed that you used the word perception on this occasion. Every single piece of material, door, panel, draw, runner system, hinge, solid wood and counter top was brand new and manufactured / fabricated by us. So I have no idea what you mean by “ Tried to force things on you “
Point14:
Again and we are arrogant. Deon its common practise of communication that if there is an issue that you would inform us so that we can attend to it. 1 cornice showed a gap. You never informed us but you condemn us because you had to get someone else. Reading it on this post is the first we have heard about it. For all we know it may have been one of the ones DANNY installed?? We wouldn’t know because you didn’t say anything about it?
Point 15:
Again Lie. There is no such thing as a COC for plumbing. Secondly Solomon did all the initial plumbing work prepped and waiting for the kitchen installation. “ YOUR DANNY” approved his work as well. Then you sent me an email saying DANNY will complete the plumbing on site. So please stop bending the truth and trying to smear our company for whatever gain you hope to get from this!
No worker what’s so ever was off the street. Plumber and electrician have been doing my work for over 8 years now. They are good otherwise I would never have kept them.
We are an honest hardworking family that give a quality product and really reasonable price. Thank you. You have just made it even harder to progress in this life with your bucket of truth bending lies about us. We do make small mistakes all the time. Every mistake we make on a site however small we learn from year after year. We make every effort to improve and that's the kind of staff I am happy to have. I am proud of Kitchen Delights and the work we do.
Surprising me most is the email I got from you on the 14 March “ We are very happy with the final result “
Best regards,
