We travelled with this funeral parlour on Friday to take our late family member home, and what should have been a dignified journey turned into a very distressing experience. At the border, some of our relatives had passports that had been stamped out, while others did not. They acted honestly by remaining with the rest of the family and asking the driver how the border payment should be handled—whether they should give him the money or pay it directly to the border officials. Instead of assisting us with respect and compassion, the driver of vehicle KK39 accused them of being dishonest. He became rude, aggressive, and treated the bereaved family as though we were ********s. He demanded R600 per person, yet we each only had R400, which we genuinely believed was the correct amount. Rather than explaining the situation professionally, he continued to disrespect us despite knowing we were mourning the loss of our loved one. To make matters worse, his driving throughout the journey was reckless, leaving us feeling unsafe. His conduct fell far below the standard expected of someone entrusted with transporting a grieving family. This was one of the most insensitive and unprofessional experiences we have ever had. A funeral service provider should treat grieving families with dignity, patience, and respect—not hostility, ************, and reckless behaviour. I sincerely hope management investigates the conduct of the driver of KK39, takes appropriate disciplinary action, and ensures that no other grieving family is ever subjected to such treatment.
