Disappointing Quality and Customer Service – Huggies Nappies
As a parent, I trusted Kimberly-Clark and its Huggies brand to deliver on their promise of safe, high-quality products for children. Unfortunately, my experiences with Huggies nappies have been deeply disappointing, shaking my confidence in the brand's ability to meet even basic standards of product reliability and customer care.
My issues began with the purchase of a Huggies Mega Box from Game in Ballito. One pack from the box was unusable due to defects, including brittle, breaking absorbent areas, tearing sides, and snapped elastics that caused discomfort and rashes for my son. After reporting this to EMEA, I was given a R350 voucher as compensation, despite not being able to use the defective pack. No samples were requested at this stage.
The next time, I purchased a smaller pack, which again had similar defects. I didn’t report this as options in our town are limited, and I had no alternative but to use what was available despite the issues.
Hoping for improvement, I purchased another Mega Box from Game. Yet again, one pack was immediately defective upon opening, prompting me to escalate the issue further. This time, I sent multiple samples to EMEA, far more than requested, as the nappies were completely unusable. When I opened the second pack in the box, it too was entirely defective. I reached out to Andrea again but received no response. Eventually, I managed to speak to another representative, who was rude, unhelpful, and dismissive, informing me that I would not hear back until the investigation was complete.
After a lengthy waiting period, I was informed that no manufacturing defects were found in the samples I provided. Adding insult to injury, I was reimbursed a mere R69, despite discarding the remaining nappies that could not be used without negatively affecting my son’s well-being. In total, I lost nearly R500 for this purchase, with no meaningful resolution offered by Kimberly-Clark.
To add to the frustration, my son has a con******* malformation, which requires him to be double-nappied. When I raised this with Huggies, they imp**** that the nappies may have been defective because they were not being used as intended. This excuse is unacceptable. I have been double-nappying my son with Huggies for almost three years without issue. Other nappies from alternative batch numbers worked perfectly fine, while all three defective packs shared the same batch number. How does this not clearly point to a manufacturing problem?
The lack of accountability, delayed responses, and inadequate reimbur*****t for unusable products are not reflective of a brand that claims to prioritize the needs of families. A quick glance at other customer feedback reveals that these issues are not isolated, highlighting ongoing problems with Huggies' quality control and customer service.
Kimberly-Clark must urgently address these concerns. Improving quality assurance processes and ensuring customer service teams treat complaints with empathy and professionalism are vital steps toward restoring trust. Until these issues are resolved, I can no longer support Kimberly-Clark products and caution other parents to carefully consider these experiences when choosing products for their children.
I hope this feedback serves as a wake-up call for Kimberly-Clark to re-evaluate their standards and commitment to their customers.
