Sold a Faulty Vehicle, Misrepresented Pricing, Refusing to Refund Deposit – Extremely *********

I purchased a 2012 Ford Figo from Kilokor Motors in June through their Rent-to-Own option. I was told the vehicle was in “immaculate condition” and the total price was R90,000. My instalment was ±R5,100, including compulsory insurance and tracker.

Within 3 days, the car broke down due to an alternator failure and left me stranded in Roodepoort in a dangerous area. From that point on, the problems never stopped: Loud knocking over bumps (later shock-related) Persistent brake noise Starter issues even after repairs Aircon had no gas Ongoing mechanical issues that made the car unsafe

I took the car back several times, but most issues were dismissed or never properly repaired. Even when they replaced the shocks, the car continued to make concerning noises. I asked twice for a different vehicle due to the constant problems and was told no.

Later, I discovered something extremely concerning: although the agreed price was R90,000, the accounts department showed me a screenshot reflecting that the vehicle’s value on their system was R126,000. This was never disclosed to me. I was being charged instalments based on the inflated amount, which explains the very high monthly payments.

This is misrepresentation and completely *********.

Given the age and condition of the car, I also began questioning whether the mileage (119,475 km) was even accurate.

I paid a R25,000 deposit, and based on the defective condition, undisclosed pricing, and the endless mechanical problems, I requested my deposit back. Kilokor Motors refused, despite selling me a car that was unsafe, unreliable, and not as advertised.

To summarise: They sold me a vehicle with serious mechanical faults They misrepresented the vehicle condition They charged me instalments based on a price I never agreed to They refused to replace the defective car They refused to refund my deposit

This experience has been unfair, stressful, and financially damaging. I would strongly advise anyone considering doing business with Kilokor Motors to be extremely cautious.
