KIAAT HOSPITAL NOT RECOMMENDED !

Emergency/ casualty 2am was great! Very friendly and helpful. Sending home was questionable whether the patient was safe to do go. Radiology very efficient and friendly. Return 6pm and decision to admit private patient with rapidly deteriorating condition. Takes HOURS! Admitted to hospital... and surgery... staff and nurses get increasingly more rude the deeper into the system you go. Food is not on standard for the rates paid. A stew that is bones only? Cheesy dinner for a nauseous patient with intestinal issues. Private patients not treated same as medical aid patients (I suppose because the account can’t be bloated and inflated). Pharmacy: absolutely SHOCKING! 7 pharmacists on duty, 1 slowly stocking shelves, 1 with a computer problem, another assisting. Aaallll veeerryyyy slllooooowwww. Between 5&7 patients waiting to be helped. Covid times, no social distancing in place. I lose my place in the queue standing in the doorway to avoid being close to other potentially sick patients. To top it all off, at every step of the way we have told all staff that the patient is allergic to penicillin. We even discussed this with the general surgeon. Eventually a pharmacist helps us and guess which antibiotic has been prescribed by the surgeon charging R15,000? PENICILLIN!!!!

NOT EVER visiting this hospital again. No sense of urgency, everything is slow and sloppy and a lot of rudeness
