Kia Edenvale wants me to pay for their incompetence!
My car came back from Kia Edenvale with a broken boot lock and they tried to make me pay them to fix it!
I brought my Kia into the Edenvale branch for a standard service on 2023/11/07. The representative, Nico, confirmed with me that the vehicle was in good condition and opened the boot himself.
I received a call later in the day that they had quoted to replace the boot lock mechanism. the rubber had worn down long ago, so I suspected that the branch was trying to milk me for more repairs. I denied the quote and asked them to stick to the service.
When I received the car back, the boot no longer opened.
It was explained to me that because the rubber had worn and that the part was old, they could not accept responsibility and I should pay them to repair the damaged part. After a week of trying to speak to a manager, they offered to throw in the labour for free if I buy the part from them.
Frankly, I don't care how old the part was. The very least I expect from a professional service is to not get my car back in worse condition than I dropped it off. It broke under their care and the attitude and lack of communication the whole way through made sure that I will never spend another cent at Kia Edenvale.
If this is the service I should expect, my next car will not be a Kia.
