Kia Alberton complain

Hellopeter

I am writing today 19/07/2024 to complain of the poor service I received from your car dealership: KIA SA Prior to the car breakdown, my Kia Pegas. I took the car in for service, mid-May 2024 (the service is up to date). A week after the service the first problem started. I was on my way on the N3 South when I heard a sound (gumb) and immediately the speedometer rev count went up excessively. I immediately stopped the car on the sound of the road and turned off. After turning it on, the speedometer rev count was normal and I drove off. On the 20 May ’24, the same sound again happened and immediately the engine light turned on (refer to pic –WA0034). I immediately called Kia Alberton, I was advised to drive the car directly to Alberton, which I immediately did. That was the last day I drove my car. The car was then diagnosed, and I was advised that it was ‘factory fault’ on a gearbox and I were assigned a courtesy car. We were advised that the gearbox was faulty and it was imported from Korea. For 6 -8 weeks my family and I drove the courtesy (which we like) however is not ours, we understood and trusted the process. However, I receive the call that the car was fixed, and we went to Kia on a Friday (06/07/24), I then took the car which I was told it was fixed and tested by the mechanic/engineer. I then drove the car home and later went to buy food. On this Friday we wanted to drive down to Durban as there was family friend funeral. While driving back from buying food, the gumb happened again and then the engine light turned on (see pic -WA0048), immediately parked outside on the N12, it was now dark outside. For our lucky sake, SAPS pulled over and escorted us home as they advised that it was a hijack spot which we pulled over on as the car lost its power. We drove at the sped of +-40 all the way home. We also noticed that the back break light wasn’t working either (see pic WA0047). When we got home I then phoned Kia Alberton (Hassan (Salesperson)) who advised me to call Kia road side so that they can come tow the car in. which is what we did. The following morning the car back to Kia Alberton to our frustration as we didn’t even drive the car for 50 plus kilometres and the same problem persisted, after 8 weeks. Upon arriving at Kia mechanic named Jaco and I tested the car on the N12 West and the car did the same thing and indicated the engine light. The car was then left with Kia for it to be looked into and inspected. After a day or two, we were then contacted to come pick up the car which my wife and I went on a Saturday the 13th July. When we got there, we drove the car to the washing bay downstairs- and when I put in the Reverse gear, the car gave the same indication of gumping and then refused to take the car as this was an indication that the same problem is going to happen. We didn’t take the car.

On the 16 July, Kia called me to ask me what was the problem with the car, which I have since explained.

Now, you can understand that we have been very patient with Kia about this matter but now this has reached a boiling point. • We cannot accept this level of service any longer as for two full months we are paying for a car that we aren’t even driving. • I am now doubting the diagnosis being done on the car , as we were told that it was gearbox issue but even after the brand NEW gearbox was installed, the same issue persisted….what does this mean….Incorrect diagnosis which costed R 175k? I am flabbergasted and this is appalling. • How do I trust that my Kia Pegas is properly fixed after this? Honestly I don’t have the believe and trust anymore on the car even if it was brought back to me as I am not sure if they themselves know what they are doing. • I can’t drive that car with confidence anymore especially with kids at night, what if the same problem happens? What if the SAPS were not present the time it lost power on me on the N12….We are in RSA and the worse could have happened. Let us remember all this happen because of a FACTORY FAULT. Why am I subjected to all this if it is a factory fault? Why can’t the obvious alternative be done? • Lastly, this car is not a favour to me as I am paying monthly instalment that I can’t skip, yet I don’t have the comfort of my car and my movement is not inspired as the slogan dictates. • I don’t know how many more Saturdays I must avail myself for Kia Alberton, two weeks in a row…yet the car is not ready. Now I am awaiting the call to say the car is fixed, whether is fixed or not…I don’t know. I am disappointed and this email serve as my last complain to Kia South Africa to really investigate this matter and speedily resolve my case. Mrs Gcinile Ettie Mo***eng ***- *** mo******
