Complaint Kia Edenvale Service department
I write this email to express my unhappiness that I experienced with Kia Edenvale
On the 30th of October, I booked my car in for Service, during the day I got a call that there were things that they had to replace on the car, amongst that list was a Radiator Cap, on the job that was carried out at service.
I only got to use my car 2 or three weeks in November after the service was done and I realised that the “check the engine light” was on and the car was overheating, I immediately parked the car and noticed that there was no water on the coolant and radiator box, I added the water, the following day, the “check the engine light” was off and everything seemed ok, however I was checking the engine and could see that the boxes were dry and I would refill water, now this became a trend, then I decided to book the car in for checking on the 05th December 2022
The diagnosis report (see attached) showed that there is pipe that had a whole and needed to be replaced hence the water was not sustainable on the Radiator and Coolant.
The Kia consultant gave me a call to advise that I will need to pay R5960, of which I had asked them to Claim from my M-sure warranty claims, however the claim was not honored as they don’t cover pipes,
Which then made me to dig and wondered why this was not picked at Service stage because a health check was done on the car as per the report and my question is why was the Radiator cap replaced, what was the damage that made them to change it at service stage, I need to understand why was the Radiator cap replaced? Research about Radiator cap : “ A radiator cap looks simple but, is critical for a properly operating cooling system. A faulty radiator cap can result in engine overheating, loss of coolant or major engine damage. So, Pressurized cooling systems help prevent overheating and coolant loss” why was this not picked up when Radiator cap was replace??? And now I am told that I have to fix the cooling system as per attached damage report
“A faulty radiator cap can result in engine overheating, loss of coolant or major engine damage. So, Pressurized cooling systems help prevent overheating and coolant loss. Also, It raises the coolant boiling point about 3-degrees F for each additional psi above atmospheric pressure” this is exactly why I took the car back to KIA Edenvale, it was overheating…
Secondly I feel that the technician who worked on the car was just lazy to check why this has to be replace, I actually spoke to the Kia technician of which he also confirmed that this was supposed to be picked up at Service stage, I then spoke to the service manager as well who was REALLY RUDE and raising his voice at me, that’s when I decided to take my car back without them fixing it because I couldn’t deal with someone that was so unprofessional and RUDE.
My car was at Kia Edenvale since the day I booked it in on the 05th until the 15th December 2022 when I collected it
My car was in perfect condition before I took it in for the service on the 30th Oct, but after then I had to constantly put water
I got a mechanic which explained and fixed the damage to the car, I was so inconvenience during December because my car was not in a good state to travel with it.
Please note below damages that were carried out by the mechanic and I would like to be compensated for these cost as this damage would have been prevented at Service Stage:
• Pipe assy heater – R517.50 • Oil filter – R50 • Gasket cylinder head – R450 • Silicon – R110 • Tensioner assy timing chain – R550 • Multi grade oil 5l – R250 • Mechanic labour cost is R2800
I would like to be compensated with all the damage caused to my car because of negligence that happened in your dealership – KIA Edenvale, I will gladly send my invoices to you as noted below
I am looping in M-sure as I have a Warranty policy with you and went to KIA edenvale as a certified dealer chosen by you and also looping in Hollard Insurance as M-sure policies are underwritten by Hollard.
If I do not get this issue sorted I will take it up with all social medias and the Ombuds.
I am really disappoint with KIA Edenvale, I always took my car there for all my service and now I got no joy especially by the Service Manager who was really rude
