Bad Service and Incompetence

I am the proud owner of a KIA Soul 1.6 2012. I have always been very happy with my vehicle and the dealings that KIA Motors Boksburg and myself have had. Unfortunately this changed December 2017! My vehicle was due for it's annual service. I always took the vehicle in October every year for the service. In 2016 I was unable to as I had just had surgery. I spoke to the servicing department and they told me that it would be fine to bring the vehicle in December 2016. So I booked the vehicle in for 12 December. Had a service done, no issues good service etc. The problem was what happened a year later in October 2017. I had booked the vehicle in for the normal annual service for 3rd October. Then I got thinking maybe it was too soon for the service as it had been done the previous December and my mileage was low. I called KIA Boksburg and spoke to a lady in their servicing department. Told her I was worried it was too soon. She did not even ask me my details or check on her system to view my info or my service plan details, she simply said "Its too early to do it and they will NOT cover the service, I must bring my vehicle in December 2017." I TRUSTED her advice and judgement. So I booked my vehicle for 12 December 2017. Firstly when I arrived at the dealership, they told me that they were not aware of my booking but it was not a problem. They had space and would do the service. Secondly when I went to the reception, the lady who was taking my details told me that she would check the system to see if everything was in order. Low and behold, my 5 year service plan had expired WHEN?! THE 31ST OCTOBER!!! I Was told I had to pay for the service myself. I explained that I had, had the vehicle booked in October but the lady in service dept said it would not be covered. The lady at front desk said "Oh well it was wrong of her to tell you that because even if it was earlier, it would still have been paid for under the service plan!" I was disgusted to say the least. Because in actual fact I have PAID for the service plan. Now they want to pay again. Unfortunately I should have checked my service plan expiry date myself but I TRUSTED the lady's advice over the phone when I was querying it. If she knew how to do her job PROPERLY she would have checked her system and all would have been avoided. Needless to say I was not very polite when I told them that I would not be paying them to service my vehicle and to bring my vehicle around immediately! I really feel that companies like these should send an email or sms alerting their customers that there Maintenance or Service Plan is expiring at such and such a date. Three weeks later and I took my vehicle to Car Service City. My experience with them was phenomenal! Friendly and COMPETENT staff who have the CUSTOMERS best interests at heart! Who want to provide as service as well as make a profit. KIA just wants the profit.
