Appalling customer service

On Wednesday I tried to open my brothers car as he had it lent it to me while mine was at the panelbeaters. The key would not open so I went to Kia Bryanston and explained the story. A gentleman called Graham assisted me and said he thinks it's the battery. We changed battery and I went back home to try open the car and it still didn't work.
I then contacted Graham with the issue and he said it's definitely a fault in the key. Bare in mind, he hasn't even tested anything into the vehicle. We ordered a new key for deliver Monday . My brother returned from his overseas trip and figured the issue was not the key but the battery, charged the battery and everything was working again.
On Monday, along with my brother we went to Kia Bryanston to explain that. It was negligence on their part not to do a proper assessment of the vehicle before. How do you give a solution when you are uncertain of the problem. We then requested they return the key and refund us given that the issue was never the key.
The manager refused and said they can not return the key. So R5063 later you are not going to refund us for an error YOU made? I felt disrespected and feel they didn't even try to give us a suitable solution. I will fight this until I get my refund and not because of the money but the principal.
