Kia Brackenfell- Faulty vehicle within 4months
Kia Brackenfell- Faulty vehicle within 4months We bought a car from Kia Brackenfell at the start of January 2026. On the 15th May, our vehicle broke down with a massive loss of power and a weird siren like sound from the engine. (Car was serviced by Ford on the 13th May at the time)
We then got in touch immediately with Kia Brackenfell (Noer) who was the sales rep and asked that we bring the vehicle straight to them. We then used one of our two free tows with OUTsurance for the year to get the car back to Kia Brackenfell.
Kia Brackenfell then advised a couple of days later that they can’t do anything on the vehicle as the vehicle is a Ford vehicle and not a Kia vehicle and that we would need to take the vehicle back to Ford because they are assuming Ford did something wrong as the car broke down 2 days after the service. I then used my second free tow with OUTsurance to get the car to Ford Claremont. Ford then stripped the vehicle and advised it’s the clutch causing the sound and charged me 39k to fix.
We did not agree to this large amount and felt that we should not pay so much after buying a car from a reliable dealership after 4 months. We then had to pay R3900 in labour costs to Ford Dealership out of our own pocket (money we didn't have). We also had to pay R1800 out of our own pocket again to get the vehicle from Ford to Engine Techniques ( mechanics Kia Brackenfell booked us in with after we reached out to the dealer principle - Riaan)
Engine Techniques then advised it’s not the clutch causing the sound but rather the turbo. A major component of the vehicle.
Kia Brackenfell is taking no responsibility here, after giving us the round around and to add, we’ve spent over 20k now in 2 x debit orders with MFC, OUTsurance debit orders as well as 2 months worth of Uber costs to get to work and back and get our daughter to and from creche.
We’ve also driven just over 4000km in 4 months so no excessive driving at all.
We’ve tried getting Kia Brackenfell to sort this issue out for us but it’s now almost 2 months and no success. We are utterly disappointed and upset with the whole matter, causing us so much stress, financial implications and ultimately a very negative experience with Kia.
We have demanded multiple resolutions from the Kia brackenfell as well as the dealer principle (Riaan) and a resolution from Kia South Africa on this matter, but we've reached a dead end. We even requested a courtesy vehicle be at our disposal and this was rejected as well.
This whole process has been very frustrating and has caused great inconvenience to us along with financial constraint.
We will not leave this here any longer and will take this as far as we need it to go.
