My experience began when my BMW experienced starting issues, despite cranking. Contacting KGK Motors for assistance, I was advised to tow it to their workshop instead of taking it home. Reluctantly, I comp****. Upon my return the next day, I was informed by Mr. Mahura that the ECU Module of my vehicle, commonly known as the Computer box, was damaged due to water stains on the motherboard. He quoted a replacement cost of R8500, with an additional R1800 for re-programming, which he referred to as "cloning".

Due to financial constraints, I postponed the repair and inquired about its validity in mid-March 2024, to which Mr. Mahura confirmed. Following this, he collected the ECU lockset, the CAS box, and the key, demanding full payment for the parts, which I obliged. However, the next day, he informed me that the computer box had been sold the previous day. Subsequently, he struggled to find a replacement and resorted to handing it over to another individual for repairs, contrary to my payment for a replacement. Despite numerous assurances, delays persisted, with the ECU finally being installed late in the evening.

After installation, the vehicle exhibited new faults, including erratic behavior and persistent starting issues. Mr. Mahura justified additional charges, claiming repairs had been made, although upon inspection by reputable mechanics, it was confirmed that no work had been undertaken on the ECU. Despite my insistence and evidence to the contrary, Mr. Mahura failed to provide a satisfactory explanation or refund for the misrepresented services.

Upon seeking a second and third opinion, the root cause of the issue was identified as fuel starvation, with the fuel pump malfunctioning. A replacement pump and relays, costing significantly less than the quoted ECU replacement, resolved the problem, highlighting the erroneous diagnosis by Mr. Mahura.

It is evident that Thapelo Mahura operates dishonestly, exploiting unsuspecting customers for financial gain. His refusal to refund or provide an invoice for services not rendered further underscores his lack of integrity. I strongly caution against engaging with KGK MOTORS or Thapelo Mahura, as my experience serves as a cautionary tale of ********* business practices and financial exploitation.
