Snails pace staff and mad management cost cutting measures at KFC Malvern branch KZN South Africa

On Monday evening (8th July) at 6pm waiting at the KFC Malvern branch drive through. When placing an order for a Family Feast, was told by the KFC employee that there is a 20-minute waiting period because they don't have any chicken ready.

At first, I laughed when she told me this thinking she was making a joke, then realized she was serious. How can KFC have such poor forward planning? It's dinner time, of course there is going to be periods of increased volumes of people. That is obvious and should be obvious to people with experience in the industry.

I asked to speak to the manager. She explained that there was someone with a big order that came through and that is why they were in this predicament. When I asked how big their order was, she told me they ordered 100 pieces of chicken. So, I asked her, you don't have more then 100 pieces of chicken available at any given time? She said no, it is against the KFC Policy.

This is ridiculous, how can one of the biggest branches of KFC in KZN take the cost cutting measures of not having 100 pieces of chicken available for dinner time. Like I said, this is one of the busiest branches in KZN. Their chicken is very rarely going to waste.

When you take a peek inside the branch at the food preparation area, you can see all the staff members working and moving around at such a slow pace. Literally moving at an extremely slow pace. Obviously, people are going to wait longer than normal when staff are moving so slowly.

Sadly, this is not the first time this scenario at this branch has played out, there have been several occasions in the past where they made you wait and wait and wait. I gave them the benefit of the doubt in the past, but this pattern of consistent bad managerial forward planning and slow working staff behavior needs to be rectified.

So, I decided to not purchase KFC, I went for a 2-minute drive to their competitor (McDonalds) and placed an order and got my food in less than 2 minutes.
