ROBIN ACRES - BRAAM FISCHER | UNCOOKED CHICKEN

Dear KFC Team,

I hope you are well.

I am writing to raise a serious concern regarding an order I purchased today from your Bram Fisher branch. Upon starting my meal, I discovered that one of the chicken pieces was uncooked. This is extremely alarming from a food safety perspective.

I immediately returned the entire order to the store — it was still warm — and requested that the full order be replaced, as this was meant to be my lunch. The staff member assisting me was prepared to redo the order; however, the manager on duty refused. She stated that only one piece was uncooked and that “the rest were fine,” even breaking the other pieces in front of me, on the counter, in front of the staff. Out of caution, I again requested that the entire order be redone, but this was denied.

While I am not a food preparation expert, it is common knowledge that if one piece of chicken is undercooked, the entire batch may be compromised, posing a serious risk of foodborne illness such as Salmonella. I strongly believe the manager requires a better understanding of food safety protocols and the risks associated with serving undercooked poultry.

Furthermore, when I asked to take a photo of the chicken or my till slip, my request was denied on the basis of the POPIA Act. I found this troubling, as it prevented me from documenting the incident.

Due to the manager’s response, I requested a refund and chose to take my business elsewhere.

This experience was disappointing and unsafe, and not reflective of the standards I expect from KFC.

I would appreciate feedback on how this matter will be addressed — both regarding food safety and customer service — to ensure no other customer is placed at similar risk.

Thank you for your attention to this serious matter.
