R500 KFC Voucher Activated Without Use – No Resolution from Support
I’m extremely disappointed with how KFC has handled a birthday voucher issue meant for my boyfriend, a massive KFC fan. My parents excitedly purchased a R500 voucher as a gift, but the experience has been frustrating and unresolved.
We first went to a KFC store to redeem the voucher, but the staff informed us it had to be used through the app, which is not what was promised to us. So, my boyfriend entered the voucher code into the KFC app to check if it worked — without placing an order. To our shock, the moment the code was entered, the app automatically activated the voucher — even though no purchase was made and nothing was confirmed. He exited the app, assuming the voucher would only activate once an actual order was submitted.
Now the voucher is marked as used, but we received no food and no value from it.
We’ve called customer support twice and were told the issue would be escalated and that a new voucher would be sent. That never happened. Instead, we’ve only been told that the voucher is “activated” and can’t be reissued — even though it was never used to buy anything.
This is completely unacceptable. A R500 voucher was paid for, and KFC has offered no proper support or compensation. It feels like a **** — money taken without any service provided. For a company that promotes customer satisfaction, this has been incredibly disappointing.
Even more frustrating, I’ve since read multiple other reviews from people who’ve experienced the exact same issue. It’s clear that the voucher system is flawed, poorly designed, and extremely misleading. It allows vouchers to be marked as used without any actual transaction — and customers are left with no support and no compensation.
We expect this to be resolved properly — either by reissuing the voucher or refunding the full amount. We trusted KFC and feel completely let down.
