So I decided to treat my family to some take-aways Sunday as a late dinner. Of all the choices at my disposal (Steers Bothasig / Debonairs / Chinese / McDonalds to name a few), we opted for KFC Bothasig. I ordered the 10-piece family feast (R200) and requested coleslaw/mash and pops as my sides. I was informed that they don't have coleslaw. I asked if I could increase the mash to three then take popps and wings? "No, only 2-2-2!" I said but YOU don't have coleslaw and why should I now take ice creams or a little burgers when there are three members in my family and we could do with the one each and after all, you should be in a position to compromise for the customer's sake. It wasn't as if I was asking for extra chicken or burgers....it was flippen mash! Needless to say I left and went to Plattekloof KFC and was blown away at the service I received there. "No problem sir, it's the least I can do for you" and I got this with a smile on my face. Now R200 is NOT a lot of money, but deny 10 people who may have been impacted with no coleslaw and you've lost R2k! If it keeps going like this, I really hope that they are not expecting staff bonuses at the end of the year because there shouldn't be any money left. I think the owner of Bothasig KFC should educate his management team to communicate to the frontline staff of exceptions that can be made when faced with challenges like this. Come to think, if you ran out of coleslaw then you must have been busy so just imagine how many people were turned away. Did you lose R2k or more? Anyway....some people are prepared to help and others not. Sad!!!
