Online pickup useless

I ordered food online to pay and pick up at the kfc in soshanguve plaza. I chose the option to pick up at the drive thru.

I get to the drive thru and I am told I can't pay there as online orders are only done inside, I chose drive thru as I didn't want contact with a lot of people.

I get inside and I'm told my order was for whatever reason cancelled, so the very thing I am trying to avoid is exactly what happened. I ended up waiting in a queue so what is the purpose of this online option if I still have to go inside the shop and wait in a queue and still wait for my order to be prepared?

I think if this is how things are done then this online thing is useless and we might as well go inside the shop and expose ourselves to the virus.
