KFC FALSE ADVERTISING SOECIALS
On Sunday (14/03/2022), I went over to the neared KFC outlet to my residents to purchase the Sunday 9 piece special @ R,99,00 which had just been aired on National Television for R99,00. Upon ordering the special, I was duly informed to pay R124.90 which is the normal price for 9 piece meal. I subsequently challenged this price with the store cashier and supervisor, only to be given 2 completely different excuses. The first excuse given by the cashier was that it was an online special only. The second excuse given by the supervisor was that the special was only available at certain stores only and that this particular store was excluded from this special. Needless to say, I was now forced to purchase the 9 piece bucket @R,124.90 since I had already driven almost 20kms return to the store and that we had planned the KFC for dinner. I further reported my complaint on the official KFC online complaint portal only to have the above excuses reiterated to me by the KFC agent that officially responded to my online complaint. In addition to reaffirming the above excuses, I was also informed that all specials are subject to terms and conditions which I should read before going out to purchase any future KFC specials which I blatantly refused to accept on the grounds that the special had been advertised on National television and it did not state any of the above excuses given. I was then subsequently informed by the agent in question that she would escalate my complaint for which I will receive a call from a more senior agent which to date has not occurred as yet. Purely out of curiosity, I've decided, in the meantime, to go and read up on the applicable KFC terms and conditions and have subsequently discovered that the excuses given above are exactly that....excuses!!! The terms and conditions clearly stipulate that the specific Sunday special was available in all stores nationwide and was only available for in store purchases only...not online. Of particular importance here is the fact that this is the 4th time that I have had this exact same experience at the same store and online complaints portal. The first time I reported the complaint, I was assured that it was an ad placed in error and would be rectified immediately. But the second and third time that this happened, my complaints were blatantly ignored with same excuses given each time and eith no further follow-up by KFC as promised. In the light of the above facts and the number of times that the same problem has occurred in as many months, it is my considered opinion that this is a outright case of false advertising by KFC that is carefully orchestrated with the intent of luring unsuspecting customers to stores under the pretext of buying a special but inevitably having to pay full price for the so called "special".which to my mind is ********* and shameful for an organization such as KFC and which needs to be immediately addressed either directly by KFC themselves and/or the Advertising or Consumer Commission to protect innocent unsuspecting consumers from such despicable or ************ practices in the retail industry. Given my repeated experiences of above with KFC, I am certain that their are probably many more unsuspecting KFC customers that have also and unknowingly had the same disappointing experiences with advertised KFC specials and who should immediately report such ************ and shameful conduct from organization's such as KFC such that this kind of unacceptable business practice can be stopped with immediate effect. Shame on you KFC!!!
