KFC card machines not working - something fishy

During lockdown I visited a number of KFC's in the western cape , on the last two occasions in two different regions I was told at the payment window the card machine is down....both branches had an identical photo copied sign at drive through window which was not very obvious and absolutely zero forewarning , forcing one to run to an atm and pay cash. Not only is this inconvenient but also highly suspicious. Whats going on , is KFC deliberately receiving large amounts of cash and not declaring full tax as part of some carefully planned scheme to capitalise in lockdown by saying profits are down and pocketing the money. It was the exact same senario at two totally different branches, same hidden feeble sign run off from a printer and it felt too close to just be coincidence. How are is a major Franchises banking off line anyway in this day and age - not very
