Hard and dry chicken strips - Not so good

I purchased chicken strips from KFC Bedfordview yesterday afternoon for my son - his favourite. They were so hard and exceptionally dry - I think they had been cooked in the morning and kept in the hot oven the entire day. By the time it was served and bought by us, my son was not able to eat it - it was very very dry and the crispy batter was very very hard - in fact, not edible at all. We had to throw it away. Should the staff not check whether the food is actually edible before trying to fob it off on customers just to get rid of it?
