Disappointed

Dear KFC,

Last night you let me down.

After returning home from the rugby at Loftus with a beer filled belly, I realised that I couldn't resist the urge no more - I had to get in my car and treat my wife and I to a KFC meal. I have to give it to you, KFC has developed into a craving of mine after a long day out. (Especially when your employee on the chicken fryer does a reasonable job and doesn't make it too dry or too oily.)

After 12 minutes in my car I finally arrived at my nearest KFC (the one in Rooihuiskraal North). On my way there I pictured the piece of chicken and zinger wings in my mind, but had to stop myself when I noticed that I was about to start chewing away on my cars' dash.

I spent about 15 seconds staring at the brightly lit order box before a lady on the other end asked me what I would like to order. I didn't expect to be saluted by the Queens Royal military, but I did at least expect a friendly greeting by the faceless person who I would later meet to give my hard earned money away. Sadly it wasn't very friendly.

I asked for two Streetwise Mix meals - this is by far your best value for money option at the moment; a piece of chicken, 2 zinger wings, a mini-loaf and a mash and gravy all for R30! A BARGAIN!!

The faceless lady then told me that they do not have any mini-loafs. After a quick calculation I worked out that the hole in my stomach where the bread had to go isn't all that big and that I should be fine with the streetwise bread roll that she said she can replace it with.

I didn't feel like anything to drink and I didn't want to add any Hope for their charity, so I moved on to the next window, excited to meet the unfriendly lady that was about to take my hard earned R60.

To lighten the mood and to keep my excitement going, I tried to be friendly and make a bit of small talk. It didn't work, as I immediately noticed she isn't there to make me feel welcome.

R60 poorer I moved on to the final stage of the maze to pick up my order. I waited for a few minutes before a guy with a smile appeared in the window and handed me my order. He made me feel better.

I got back on the road and rushed home, excited to feel the long awaited burning sensation of the Zinger wings again.

The biggest disappointment of the night came when I opened the brown paper bag. All I found was a piece of chicken and a mash and gravy for each. No Streetwise Rolls and no Zinger wings! Not sure who forgot to add the rest of my meal to the bag and what they expect me to dip into the gravy! I also expected more from the chicken pieces.

KFC how dare you keep my Zinger wings!
