********** / Non completion and Subcontracted

Movers.
On the 1st of September i was looking for a removal company who was able to a assist in taking Excess furniture from Lonehill to Honeydew storage.
I enquired on Pricenet.co.za for a removal company. There were 3 companies that responded with quotations and the 1 that stood out for price and service was KF movers Nationwide. I sent them an inventory list plus requirement to have everything bubble wrapped and packed since it was going to storage.
Every day from the 2nd of September i received a phone call from Peter ( ********** 119) who was very efficient in getting the quotes to me and invoices requesting payment for the move and also setting a move date which suited both my and their diaries.
The quotation included the following :

All items given over telephone conversation (which was a list of all of our belongings going to storage)

6 Ton truck
Free blankets
4 assistants

Bubble wrapping of all furniture
Insurance cover R50 000 Full comprehensive cover

The day that i made the payment of 50%, was the last day i heard from Peter (K&F Movers Nationwide or KF Movers or F Movers - they seem to go by a few names) and struggled to get hold of him. I was eventually told that on Tuesday - the evening before my move, he would send the details of the driver which was never received. Time was arrange for 9am on Wednesday 14th September. I never received the sms and by 9.30 i called peter who answered and eventually sent the drivers number. On calling the the number, Duncan answered and told me that he was not the driver but was subcontracted that morning by Peter to help with the move so he will be there when he gets there.
10.45 they eventually arrive with an unbranded truck and 4 guys that i was to show what was to be done. They arrived with no Bubble wrap and no packaging.
I again called Duncan to ask where the bubble wrap was and he said he was not told by Peter to Bubble wrap and peter never paid him for that. I called Peter, who said that i should let Duncan take the furniture to Storage and that he would arrive the next day to bubble wrap and pack by furniture once it was already in storage. This was unacceptable to me and i told him that i had already paid the deposit for wrapping and it had to be done that day.
Duncan eventually said that he will go and get some bubble wrapping, but it would cost me more. Initial move was to cost R2,600 and Duncan wanted to charge an additional R3,400 for bubble wrap. I called peter and he then said he no longer wants to work with me because i instructed Duncan to Bubble wrap and he himself did not so he will pay back the R1,300 deposit to Duncan - to which Duncan agreed.
They wrapped the furniture but could not fit everything that was on the inventory list in the truck so they left 1/3 of the furniture behind and eventually by 16h10 we left for the storage. On arrival at storage, they refused to unpack until i paid Duncan his full R4,700 (which included R1,300 transport that i had already paid Peter for).
I called the Cops and they sent a reservist to the storage unit. The team still refused to unpack until i paid.
I made a payment and within 5 minutes they unpacked.

I however cancelled the payment thereafter since I had not received the refund from Peter and I had never contracted Duncan in the first place and that was their deal that they had to sort out, but in the interest of my furniture being unpacked at 17h30 (and a full day wasted and not all the furniture being delivered) i made the payment.

Peter then eventually decided that he was going to refund R1,000 since he was keeping the balance for bank fees. I cancelled the payment to Duncan. I received threatening emails telling me that they will find me and recover the money from me.

Wanting to go to HelloPeter to log a complaint - there are in excess of 20 complaints for the very same reasons (both Duncan Logistics as well as K&F Movers). The story is the same in all the complaints - not enough space in the truck to take all the furniture, not arriving when they said they would, getting police to instruct the drivers and movers to unpack since they were holding the furniture in lieu of payments albeit that deposits were paid etc.

I am not going to let this lie and with the threatening emails and constant phone calls threatening me that they will find me to get the payment, but they have not finished the job (and Peter has disappeared and will not answer call, since he was the person i contracted to do the job) and harassing phone calls to the storage place to say they will recover my furniture in lieu of the payment - this is unacceptable and something needs to be done about these two companies that are ripping people off and **********. This seems to be there Modus Operandi.
http://www.duncanlogistic.co.za/page7.html ( ********** 991) Duncan
http://kfmoversnationwidecoza.my-new-website.co.za/ ( ********** ) Peter
