I rented a small room for my father form Sally Bradfield and paid a deposit of R4500.

She said she did not want to draw up a contract as the paperwork will cost R2500 rand. My father was unhappy with the living condition and was constantly bossed around and spoken down to. After paying for the month of November we decided to give her 20 working days notice. She said he must vacate immediately and she will keep my deposit until she finds another tenant. I told her she cannot do that and was even willing to Pay the pro rata leaving 2400 to be paid back to me. She constantly ignored me and after messaging her and saying failure to respond will make the situation worse as I don't want to contact my lawyer. She then accused me of threatening her and claimed for fictitious damages to her property. Never in my 32 years on this planet have a dealt with such a childish person. Keeping my money is blatant theft and she knew making a verbal contract would make it difficult to claim my deposit back. She acted friendly and nice and i felt comfortable to leave my 64 year old father to live on her premises and as soon as she got the deposit she changed. Not only will i not recommend this establishment I will go so far as to say that people must be warned about her ***** business etiquette.
