WORST MEDICAL AID EVER

I joined Key Health in March 2025 after doing my homework on all Medical Aids in South Africa for almost 2 months - I choose them as they cover all the essentials for a lower premium, I can not afford a higher premium but needed Medical aid as I have a 2 year old and wanted us to be covered.

My premiums were paid every month, I was told there is not waiting period and as life has it I had to use the medical aid in June 2025 - I went to my GP with abdominal pain and continues vomiting, I did mention to my GP that I've been struggling for 2 months but not as continues as it is now for a week on end, I previously struggled with some abdominal pain for a day and I watch what I eat and drink and it's better but now for a week it's bad and I also started vomiting etc.

He advised that I go to the Casualty department as I have not eaten for a week and I keep vomiting.

I went to Life Robinson Hospital in Randfontein - I got to the hospital at 15:00 and was admitted for further tests at -+ 22:00.

During testing they found cists on my ovaries, concerns regarding my colon and pancreas, things I was not previously aware of.

The next day at +- 13:00 I was informed by the hospital they Key Health is refusing authorisation and they are logging an NDC as I am new on the medical aid. This followed after my admitting doctor request approval for an emergency scope.

I stayed in contact with Key health to speed up the process, I contacted all my doctors and previous medical ads to get all the reports needed to help Key Health with their investigations.

After 4 days they still refused approval as they found I had preexisting conditions - so this is the funny part.

Before I was on medical aid I went to my gynecologist for my yearly check up, I had a baby 2 year ago and I have a contraceptive implantation, during my visit to him I mentioned that I get irregular cramps and more that usual bleeding but right through the months, nothing major but just something worth mentioning, I though my implantation maybe shifted or something, he did an ultrasound and blood tests as it's a yearly scheduled consultation - he found the implantation in place and 100% fine but also saw that my estrogen level is low and prescribed some hormonal tablets to help regulate my levels.

So Key Health suspended my medical aid and refused the hospital admissions as they say I visited my gynae before joining the medical aid and I did not when joining mention to the MAN assisting me that I have irregular bleeding and had cramps.

So now they found cisits where my gynae's test show there were nothing previously.

The cisits and ovary related issues is not even what I was admitted for.

I now sit with +- R50 000 bills to pay due to them making speculations and refusing emergency care !!!
