KeyHealth: Worst experience ever!

I would not recommend this Medical Aid to anyone! I Joined their Equilibrium plan in 2020, straight from MediHelp, as it seemed to offer better cover at a similar rate; Big mistake! When my son was diagnosed with depression, about 2 months with them, they came up with all sorts of reasons not to pay: 1. Requested our GP’s medical report, which we provided, but it wasn’t enough (we’ve been with the same GP for over 10 years) 2. They then went on a witch hunt, emailing any doctor or pharmacy that appeared on our files, including some we’ve never heard of... 3. Requested our claim history from our previous medical aid for the past 12 months PS: my son had not been to a doctor in over 5 years as he’s never been sick, his only visit was for malaria vaccines prior to a trip, which our GP submitted. By then I had had enough and requested cancellation. The explanation given by KeyHealth for all this was “its routine for all requests for admissions by members with them less than 18 months” So if you or your dependants will not need hospitalisation for almost 2 years, then this might be for you.... To make matters worse, they had to send me an email 2 months after resigning demanding over R1000 because I had ‘exceeded their monthly allocation for medications’(complete with threats to be blacklisted if I don’t pay), which is a mere R300 or so pm (I had been prescribed 3 repeats of some meds I required). Anyway I made the payment just to get them off my back... All in all I lost over R12k in membership fees for nothing.... Thanks KeyHealth I’ve learn a great lesson to never go with those small medical aid companies that sound too good to be true! I’m now back with Discovery Health, costs a bit more but worth it!
