KEYHEALTH let me down
It started last year December2024 when I was experiencing back pain alot I then went in February 2025 to go see the GP he proceed to examine me as laid on the bed he told me I have sciatica and carpet tunnel syndrome and that he would give me medication and injection to help with it he also explained if the medication isn't helping I must come back so I took the medication and it wasn't helping me I then went back to the Dr and he then said I will need to go for a x ray and he referred me for an x-ray i did the x-ray on the 16th February 2025 which the report showed a narrowing of my l5 and s1 vertebrae i then went back to the Dr and then referred Me to a neurosurgeon for further assistance i then went to Dr he then said he needs to admit me the adminsson was then declined saying it was scheme exclusion. i then called keyhealth call center to assist me with getting a neurosurgeon from there database i was then advised to call a when I called the Dr he told me he retired and no longer practices i then called the room and was told a new Dr is now there i then made a appointment and was told it was cash only i then went to see the Dr and was told that he wants to try first Therapy and pain medication for 6 weeks to see if its going to work he referred me to physiothe****** I called Keyhealth to advise on a Physiothe****** in the network and was told they dont have one I can go to anyone I then made an appointment with a physiothe****** at medicross on the 17th March 2025 and went for my first appointment when I asked about the rates I was told it was gonna be 800 per session and when I looked at my medical saving left I was that I would run out of medical funds for the physiothe****** i paid for 2 sessions using my medical aid funds which is now finished yI then called the neurosurgeon to tell him I dont have so much funds in my medical aid to pay for all the sessions he then advised me to ask my medical aid if they have DBC progamme I then called Keyhealth to enquire about it and told yes they do have and that they would need a motivational letter and and my x Ray and in order to process it i then sent it to the preauth email address after a week no feedback was received i then called keyhealth again and was told now I have to go to A DBC centre to get an assessment then from that report they would be able to approve the DBC programme i called a DBC center and told i have to pay for the first session and that Keyhealth told me they would pay for the first session. I proceed to pay for the session myself when I went i did the assessment the Dr at the DBC center said that my condition is bad and I would need about 12.sesisons and she would send the report to Keyhealth after a few days I received an email regarding the authorization when I saw it I was declined saying member does not meet criteria When I called keyhealth I was told the medical advisor declined it saying my condition is not severe I then called the Neurosurgeon to get advise on it and he said that he ddnt understand why they declined it and that he would get back to me.since January I have been unable to do certain things due to my back issue I have constant pain and leg numbness I rely on pain medication which doesnt help much. my condition has just gotten worse. since I dont have funds in medical aid and afraid to go to the ER as it also might be declined i dont know where to go from here i made my own appointment with another neurosurgeon at Flora hospital for the 4th August as I am concerned for my health.
I feel Keyhealth has let me down with the DBC progamme which could of helped me significantly and my condition wouldn't of gotten worse.
