Engine warning light on after service

I took my ford fiesta in for a service and cambelt replacement as it had reached 120 000km. THe car was running fine and no warning lights when it went in. They gave the car back to me with the engine warning light on. When I said this was unacceptable, they gave me a quote for R9000 to fix it. There was no explanation for why this problem had mysteriously appeared.
