Kenya Airways- not the "Pride of Africa, " but the "Disgrace of Africa!"

<p>My family and I flew Kenya Airways (KA) to Zanzibar on 12th Dec 2016. The flight was scheduled to leave at 1:20 am , but was delayed and we left at 2am. I did not realise that this was par for the course on KA. We just made it for our connecting flight from Nairobi to Zanzibar. On reaching Zanzibar, our bags had not arrived. Imagine reaching a holiday destination with 3 kids and only the clothes on your back. We had to buy some basic clothes because prices are in dollars. We only got our bags the next day at 12 pm ( 1 and a half days later). We were due to leave for SA on 16th Dec, but when we arrived at Zanzibar Airport 2 hrs before our flight we were informed that my husband and sons were not on the flight. Precision Air who is the agent for Kenya Air refused to let us on the flight despite our travel agent in SA assuring them that everything was in order. What followed was a surreal nightmare. Precision Air refused to allow us on any other flight until our agent cancelled and reissued the tickets which was totally unnecessary. We waited at the airless, mosquito infested airport for 5 hrs as KA refused to book us at a hotel while they sorted the issue. We eventually booked into a hotel for the night as my children were exhausted. This was the best idea as KA only got us on a flight at 9am the next morning( Saturday, the 17th) . They expected us to wait at the airport for all this time.The KA rep at Zanzibar (Mohammed) could not understand why the Precision Air rep would not let us on the plane the previous day. Go figure! Predictably our flight from Nairobi was delayed and until today, one of our bags have not arrived in SA. I have lodged a claim against KA and am waiting for their response.</p> <p>As a South African and an African I am disgusted at the incompetenc and indifference of KA and Precision Air staff. I want people to know how utterly unprofessional KA is, which is a pity because Kenya is a beautiful country and they need the tourism and revenue.</p>
