THE WORSE CAR SERVICE THAT I HAVE EXPERIENCED FROM A DEALERSHIP
I have the misfortune of having bought a Jeep Cherokee years ago. I love the car but unfortunately no mechanic near where I live, in the Karoo, is willing to service it. They will perform an oil change but that’s it. So, while I have the car, I have no choice but to bring it to Gqeberha (860 Kms round trip) once a year for service and repairs.
This time, I decided to take it to Kelston Jeep in Gqeberha - BIG MISTAKE! The car has a problem with the tyre pressure management system (TPMS) and I was told that only the agent can sort it out. WELL IT TURNS OUT THAT, THEY CANNOT! I was asked if they could keep the car a while longer as they had to order the parts to sort out the TPMS. I agreed and reiterated that the TPMS problem was the main reason why I brought the car to them. I paid R 3571.51 for TPMS parts and labour, but it was not sorted.
I also paid to have the bulb replaced in my front right fog light. Something else that the service advisor indicated would be done - she told me that they are replacing both bulbs. I paid for it, but that too was not done.
After keeping the car for 3 days and charging me R 9932.84, when I went to pick up my car, the car would not start. The battery was completely flat. One would think that during such a service (“to manufacture’s specifications”), one of the items that they would check would be the condition of the battery. NOT AT KELSTON JEEP IN GQEBERHA.
So, they jump started the car and sent me on my way with a dead battery.
I have no choice but to drive with the TPMS Fault warning light displaying and the flat tyre light burning.
It will be a constant reminder not to consider buying any vehicle sold by the Kelston Motor Group.
On their facebook page, Kelston Jeep PE state : “Customer satisfaction is our main aim.”
In my experience, this could not be further from the truth.
To say that I am disgusted, would be an understatement.
