New Improved Rice Krispies Nightmare

I bought the New Improved Rice Krispies not having noticed the new improved label. When I opened the the box for the first time on Monday, and emptied some into my bowl, I noticed the pale colour and it immediately put me off. Adding my milk it looked bad and the vanilla scent was so overpowering. I tried a s**** of it and felt terribly grossed out by the slimy texture and sickly sweet taste of the cereal. I usually add a half teas**** of sugar to what was the original Rice Krispies and it was never so sweet that I couldn't handle it.

I have been diagnosed with Irritibale Bowel Syndrome(IBS)a few years ago. That means certain foods like wheat triggers excruciating pain and spasm of my intestines. Rice based cereals and flours are easy on my bowels and I found that Rice Krispies cereal was the only cereal that tasted good and that was helpful toward me managing my IBS. My first try of the so called improved Rice Krispies caused me serious stomach upset later in the morning and then it continued several days after and I didn't immediately connect it to the change of the formula of the "New Improved" product. Unfortunately I thought I could give the cereal another go later in the week by not adding any sugar and I just could not stomach any of the stuff and threw it away. My IBS symptoms became much worse than ever and now I am stuck riding out the effects of an IBS flare up that can last for more than a week.

After having done a some research and also looking at others' reviews on the product, I can be certain that I won't be continuing with the new formulated Rice Krispies. It's destructive to my health, to the health of a diabetic(and diabetes runs in my family and I want to avoid it at all costs), and it is also absolutely no good to young kids who need to focus in school since this product now has more than double the amount of sugar per serving and way more than what is needed for one's energy levels in the morning. It's the repeated blood sugar spikes and then subsequent blood sugar lows that sets people up for diabetes and also obesity in the first place so why is a new and improved formulation of this cereal geared towards ****ing South Africans?

In a statement released to the public after so many customer complaints, it was said that focus groups' feedback led to the reformulation of this product. Did the focus group consist of people with special dietary challenges? Was the focus group educated on child nutrition and the effects of high levels of sugar on concentration? The complaints going out to Kelloggs South Africa concerning the new improved Rice Krispies is not just a matter of preference. To dismiss it as palate preferences is to be casual and shallow about the health and wellbeing of your customer and their families. You have betrayed their trust and loyalty in changing this product to benefit only the company. Focus groups generate input based on the questions they are asked, and no one will know if the questions mostly favour the company. Whatever the feedback, I know I can no longer purchase this product and certainly won't be recommending it to my family. My niece spends her school days with me, so I will not be serving this to her (and this is a child who attends a school that doesn't allow kids to consume cool drinks or sweets during school because they know how too much sugar affects their energy levels and ability to concentrate in school!). If only Kelloggs cared much to listen to the consumer and not continue on the path of delivering a product that is unsuitable to their consumer's (and now past consumer's) needs.
