DEPOSIT DRAMA

I recently moved out of a flat after renting for a year. On the last day of the lease(the day I moved out) the agent said that she was on leave so her colleague would come by to collect the keys. Her colleague did a quick walk-through the flat, but DID NOT do an exit inspection and the new tenants moved in on the same day. A week later our agent went and did her exit inspection and hardly kept us up to date on any of the progress. When we would ask her about the progress and when we are getting our deposit back, she would take really long to respond to us and just tell us "things are hectic on my side". Three weeks after we've been moved out, I send her a message asking her if we could get the deposit and everything completed in the week. Instead of a proper response she sent me more photos of damages to the flat that we were held liable for. 2 days later I sent an email stating that I am uncomfortable with the way that things are being handled and how slowly the progress is. I attached parts of the Rental Housing Act and asked her if she could just tell me where a process is being followed and abide to based on the act. After receiving the email she phones my boyfriend and tells him that I'm out to get her... After that she phones me and is EXTREMELY AGGRESSIVE, yelling "I don't care what you do, you can report me to whoever you like.", and I didn't even mention anything about reporting her. She also kept on saying that she will not be responsible for any of the damages in the flat and that all photos sent to us was taken the day we moved out. I then asked her why we were still getting new photos 3 weeks later and then she said: "well, I didnt see those damages on my initial inspection, the new tenants sent them through". These people have now been in the flat for nearly A MONTH!!! The next week she was all friendly and asking me to please give her two more days. I think that I should also mention that the only signature on the lease agreement is ours, no landlord, no agent. We have no idea who our landlord was at all!

Please be careful and think twice before using this agency and if you do, take photos of EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!!!! When you move in and move out, make sure to have proof of the condition of the ENTIRE FLAT and all its little details!

We are now getting our full deposit back a month later, but the process was horrible and we only got results after mentioning the laW.
