Bad Speed Queen Repair

To all the unsuspecting people out there.

My Speed Queen's drum bearing was staring to wear out. Usually, I repair things myself, but this is one of those things you have to get someone out that knows and has the right tools. So naturally you go to the agents first. But the price they charge you, you can buy almost a new Speed Queen. So, we tried alternative suppliers. This was my first mistake!!

So, we got hold of this guy on Juckmail he called himself Kelvin. Fairy sure that's not his real name. But this is what he called himself. His business is called Handy Man but, in my searches, he calls his business on Facebook: Kayze project's and consultants PTY LTD. They apparently service and repair Speed Queens. They came to my house and had a look. They quoted me R6000 for the repair. Some might say rather buy a new washing Machine, but this is a Speed Queen, and it has been working well for over 22 years and generally these machines last longer than that. So, we decided to take the risk. But he said they had to take the Speed Queen to their shop. Naturally I was extremely sceptical. Seeing as the bearing is on the drum, I told them to just take the drum and replace the bearing and bring it back. After a few days they did this. But when they assembled it...surprise...surprise the drum was leaking. So, they then told me they had to take the hole machine to the workshop. At this stage I didn't have a choice because we needed this Washing Machine to be fixed.

After a week has past and after numerous WhatsApp's for updates they returned with the machine. The drum wasn't leaking. And I was very glad. We couldn't run a full cycle due to loadshedding. They left before we could do a full cycle. After load shedding it became apparent that they have solved one problem and created another. The machine was skipping a cycle.

On closer investigation they left a *****driver in the vacuum tube. Very unprofessional!!! But nevertheless, I could remove it and the Washing Machine was going again.

I did not make too much of a fuss because we needed to wash cloths. After just 3 short months I started to notice water underneath the machine. And yes, the drum is leaking water again.

So, I then messaged Kelvin again. And yes, you guessed it. They only give a 2 month guarantee on their work and naturally he will not come out to repair his bad workmanship. Of course, I flew of the handle. But this could have been expected from this kind of fly by night characters.

So here is that you can learn from my mistakes. Never buy a Speed Queen. They are too expensive to repair. If you really want to repair your speed Queen DO NOT USE Kayze projects and consultants PTY LTD aka Handy Man FOR ANYTHING. So, Kelvin or what the hell your real name is. I will be venting on every single social media platform. But I suspect you don't care and soon you will be operating under a new alias. But karma will eventually catch up to you!!
