Don't Trust Them

I took my son karting and after I left, I noticed that engine oil had squirted all over my pants and drenched them to the skin. After calling them and sending pictures they seemed very accommodating, and told me that they would see what they could do to sort this out. At one point they offered to give me R1300 (the value of my pants) worth of vouchers, but I told them I never really go karting and that I would not get much use out of that, and asked if I could rather be given the cash to replace my pants. Over a few weeks I contacted them over and over and each time was told that they are just waiting for their insurance claim to pay out to replace my pants. This never happened and I had to resort to getting a lawyer involved. They then started claiming non-liability due to a liability waiver they said I had signed, but they could not provide proof of this. They sent pictures of liability signs on the pillars/walls from Pavilion, but I had gone to Watercrest. They have clearly been stringing me along the whole time and had no intention of paying out as they kept making me believe. Perhaps they did have the liability disclaimers up at Watercrest - I am not sure - but I find it wrong that they led me to believe that they would accommodate my request only to ignore me and finally get defensive once lawyers got involved.
