Avoid Karin Roode "Professional" Hair and Make-Up

I booked her services months ago for my wedding in May 2022. She was running a special and if I paid upfront, I would get a further discount. Being a teacher with a small income, I couldn't believe my luck. Little did I know, that this was just too good to be true.

A few weeks ago, I realised that her Facebook page had been deactivated after I saw a number of bad reviews, which made me very nervous. I contacted her and she said she had taken it down for improvements. However, her page had been taken down because of all the bad reviews she was getting. Bad reviews were being left about her on various bridal Facebook pages as well.

I panicked and started looking on HelloPeter and saw a number of bad reviews. I contacted her to give her a chance to explain what was going on, but I didn't hear back from her. I decided that I would cancel her services and ask for my money back. She responded saying she was sorry and that she had Covid for the 2nd time. However, I have reached out to a number of other brides who all received many other reasons for her cancelling on them. Which reason is to be believed?

She agreed to pay off the money in two installments. She provided me with the two dates that she would be making the payment on. I agreed.

She said that she would pay off the money in installments starting with the first payment on the 22nd of October. I sent her a reminder on the 20th of October and was ignored. When I did not receive a proof of payment on Friday, I sent another message. She said she would make the payment in the evening. This also did not happen. I received a message early Saturday morning saying that she doesn't have the funds to pay me back and that she will pay me as soon as possible.

I understand that many brides are cancelling her services, so I have told her that I will allow her to make the payment before the 29th of October. I also did warn her that I would be taking this further (small claims court, etc) if she does not hold her end of the deal.

Avoid using her services at all costs.
