Kara Nicha's

Kara Nichas-Great Fast Food Takeaway in these difficult times ,especially for those on a sho estring budget.I first went to their only branch in P.M.Burg in 1964 with Grandad.He would order their tasty broadbeans curry (cooked on a woodfire then) & sliced Bread.We came on the train from our land at Cedara 20km away, Grandad would always rush me to eat up fast.Sometimes he would buy sweetmeats to take home to my Gran.Kara Nichas according to my memory was the only sweetmeat shop in Pmb at that time and they are the Pioneers of the Sweetmeat Industry.

On our various visits to Kara Nichas which used to have a sit down then ( green panelite table & chairs ) we would be greeted by Mr Nicha ,the Owner who sat right at the front of the store as he was retired & his Sons worked behind the glass sweetmeat counter.The place was always busy with the sit downs at that time & customers would always meet here & discuss news of the town etc.

I still continue to buy their tasty bunny chows & sweetmeats which they are famous for, not forgetting their special sandwich -the taste which speaks for itself.They have grown in branches but the same taste is uniform throughout the country while they have added more items to the original menu from the old days.

To this end I wish the current Owner well and may Kara Nichas always remain a part of our History.
