This contractor should not be paid upfront. It’s very important, if using Simba, to first assess his capabilities and expertise on the job as he tends to over promise and under deliver. Be sure to use him cautiously and ensure most of the work is being done to a satisfactory level before considering any further payment towards the entire job, or circumstantial variations. I’ve used him a few times for simple handyman jobs, but when I used him for bigger projects, where his outsourced team underdelivered, he was not contactable to correct the mistakes but happy to keep my (naively) upfront payment. Will take shortcuts in work quality to maximize his own profit margin, and that includes not paying his defaulting labour team.
