YOU WILL NEVER EVER SEE ME AGAIN

I took my dog to this vet when he became ill with constant vomiting. Dr Reinet was the doctor attending to me. I gave her a thorough background report with all the info that was needed. She examined him with no communication as to her finding. As an after thought, she decided to do a liver and kidney blood test. She came back telling me the count for the liver was high and that there were many possible causes for that, EG tumor, toxins, cancer and a few others. She decided to let him stay overnight to do further testing and to put him on a drip as he had vomited so often and she wanted to hydrate him. I was told to phone the Friday afternoon to arrange what time I could pick him up and what to do next. When I phoned on Friday I was told that I needed to let him stay on another night. On explaining my financial situation with her, she agreed to not charge for the extra night and that the bill already standing on R1500 will be considered at a lower amount.

When fetching him the Saturday morning, my daughter and myself were met by a receptionist eating snacks and food splattering while talking to us. The dog was fetched and she waived us goodbye. I requested to speak with the Dr on what the outcome first of all was, and second what the road ahead will be like. How to adjust his diet on what and what not to eat, but were told that the Dr cannot come as she is busy and that we must phone on Monday. I was handed the medication and that was that.

When I phoned on Monday, I was told that she is busy but that she will return my call. We'll, that took some time. When she eventually phoned, she was cold, stern and irritated by my questions. When I asked her EG about his diet, I was told in an unfriendly tone of voice, lacking understanding and compassion and warmth, that he must go back on his dog food and that I should not spoil him. The dog food he was given all along made him vomit and she knew that all to well. Your heart dear doctor, is not in your work, it lies only in your title and for that I'm so sorry, for you should never have made this your profession.

The bill I received was not according to our agreement at all.

This practice will never EVER see me again. The vet I contacted in Swellendam, who I had never seen, never paid any money to, was more willing and understanding and compassionate to explain to me the road forward, than you who I had paid for services which was not rendered.
