Price fluctuations in academic books
Early last week Kalahari advertised a 30% discount on all academic textbooks. On Wed 4th Feb I took a screenshot of a textbook that I needed and emailed it to my lecturer for confirmation - The price was R585 for 'Investment science international edition'. Once I received confirmation I went online to purchase the book on Fri 6Feb - the price was now R1053. How does the price increase by almost 100% in 2 days? This is ridiculous! I emailed support to question the price increase and they advised that prices are subject to change - this is understandable however how do you justify a 100% price increase? I posed this question to support and have not received a reply. It has been a week now. How can you advertise a 30% discount and then your prices fluctuate by up to 100% on a daily basis. Is the student really benefiting from your so called 30% discount? I think not. I have the screenshots of the original advertised price on email and I think it is terrible that you can change the price by so much. False advertising on your \discounts"right there. I always use Kalahari for my textbooks but I am incredibly disappointed now. This has happened to a friend as well so not a first for you"""
