Gobii warrant not honoured

I purchased a Gobii cell phone but had to return it six months later because the pixels at the top of the display were starting to die. This resulted in the status bar on the top of the screen not being visible any longer. The only other issue was that the usb charging port on the phone has pins that easily get bent and make is difficult to charge. However, although the usb cable had to placed at an angle get the phone to charge, it could still be charged.

Gobii has a 1 year warranty and since the display became defective under normal use, it is a valid warranty claim. The phone was never dropped and does not even have a scratch on the screen! Nevertheless, I have been advised that they will be charging me to replace the display and the usb port on the phone. I don't mind paying to repair the usb port but I refuse to accept that the warranty claim is not valid for the display!

I have been unable to get hold of the returns department and they have made not attempt to contact me even though I have requested that they do so. I have only been given this information by the Kalahari service desk.
I have been a loyal Kalahari customer...kindly resolve this please.
