I recently had a very concerning experience at Kalafong Hospital while visiting a friend who had been admitted. Here's a detailed account of what transpired: • Upon arrival, I was dismayed to find the reception staff engaged in personal conversation while the phone rang unanswered. This lack of attentiveness, especially in a healthcare setting, creates a negative first impression and suggests a disregard for patients' needs. • While a security guard was kind enough to escort me to my cousin's ward, we came across a troubling situation. A patient lying on a bed, presumably requiring oxygen due to an attached pipe, was calling for assistance. Disappointingly, the security guard made no attempt to help the patient, despite their clear need. This indifference towards a patient in distress is utterly unacceptable in a hospital environment. • Witnessing this incident left me frustrated and helpless. I would have liked to intervene and assist the patient myself, but it was not my place to do so in a hospital setting. Overall, my experience at Kalafong Hospital was deeply concerning.
