DESPERATE need of maintenance

The food and the massages were absolutely amazing… but boy did we regret staying the night.

This place is in need of a serious clean and some maintenance. We found a total of TEN ****roaches in our room… The sheets, towels and robes we all super crunchy and in need of a wash with fabric softener… The shower in our bathroom looked great until one of us got in… as soon as the water started running, murky water started rising from the drain and soon the floor of the shower became a splash pool… The hand soap dispenser in the room was also broken (so glad we brought our own soaps). The room’s jacuzzi had a makeshift cover of pieces of broken plastic. Inside the jacuzzi were frogs. The mattress was also broken and bowed in. We heard noisy neighbours (unsure of whether it was staff or guests) partying till all hours of the night.

The overall facilities of the lodge and spa also need a serious fix. Paint peeling everywhere, broken signs, cracked floors, unkept gardens. The pool and surrounding water features were murky and full of twigs and leaves, some features going green. Where there weren’t signs, there were crumpled papers stuck up. Kids stickers all over the spa?? The reception room was also in a state on arrival. Just papers and wires everywhere… We also waited 15 mins at the gate to get into the actual lodge as nobody was answering the phone. Despite the “no-hoot” sign, we didn’t have a choice as we were waiting and booked for spa treatments soon after…

Lastly, the amount of kids here took us by surprise. We had planned a romantic, relaxing, spa weekend. The whole of the first day, there were screaming kids in the pool and banging on the piano. We went to our room to retreat and still could hear them. Not sure how a spa venue allows kids?

As mentioned before, the food and massages were truly amazing. Incredible products/services provided by Kai Thai but unfortunately *****ed by the lodging experience. The staff genuinely seemed nice and friendly too. I think management just needs a serious wake up call about the state of this lodge. I would recommend coming here for the food and massages, but definitely DO NOT recommend staying in the lodging.
