Kaelo Health(Dis-Chem) Poor Service!

Absolute poor service. My sister signed up for Dis-Chem medical cover for herself and her baby. They advised her that hospital cover will start immediately and there's no waiting period, even the communication sent to her said the same thing. Two months after the policy was activated, her baby fell ill. When the hospital contacted Dis-Chem/Kaelo, they refused to help, saying the cover will only kick in the next month. When my sister stated that she was told cover would start immediately and after hours of calls while she waited at the hospital, they eventually had no choice but to accept. All this time the child was burning up with fever and throwing up. They were so quick to take the money but refused to help. Pathetic service. Been transferred from one consultant to the next. They kept dropping the calls until we dialed into the department for new applications of medical insurance. Only then did they answer, obviously thinking this would be a new sign up. A piece of advice, my sister is paying R1200 for herself and her baby. For R400 more, she can get proper cover through Discovery and that's what she is going to do. For anyone considering Kaelo health through Dis-Chem, think twice. Bite the bullet, pay the R400 more and get proper treatment. Not like these inconsiderate ****holes who just want money and really take no consideration for people's health and well-being.
