Kadesh Laveh one sided business practices

In early October I went to the office of Kadesh in Herm**** to discuss the manufacture of two bespoke sliding doors for my home. We discussed the sizes of the doors and agreed that the doors would be of the Z brace type manufactured from either clear pine or meranti. I was also given a price for each door. It is important for me that the doors be completed and installed before the end of November (some two months later). Kadesh wanted to check with the owner to see if they could manage to manufacture the doors in the required timeframe. The same evening I received a telephone call from Kadesh confirming that they were indeed able to fulfill my order by the required date. I requested that they forward an invoice to my contractor so that he may pay any deposits required and to coordinate the manufacturing of the doors.

I subsequently learned from my contractor that the price of the doors in the Kadesh invoice had increased by R1,000.00 per door and that he should pay the full amount in advance. I instructed my contractor to pay the full amount and proceed with the order, which he did. Some days later, I learned that Kadesh was intending to manufacture the doors from superwood instead of the clear pine or meranti to which we had agreed. I visited the Kadesh office and discussed this matter with the Kadesh representative who said that they will check with the owner. The following day I received a telephone call from a Kadesh representative who informed me that they were no longer able to manufacture the doors to my specification and timeframe, When queried they said that they would return the money already paid by my contractor for these doors.

The approach of Kadesh to business is one sided and very unprofessional. They cost me two weeks of time over the critical end of year period, making it extremely difficult for me to source alternatives.
