Certified subcontractor payment outstanding since May 2025
Fortify Fencing (Pty) Ltd, a small subcontracting company, was formally appointed by JW Hugo Western Cape (Pty) Ltd for electrified fencing works, as confirmed in an official letter of appointment dated 05 March 2025. The work was completed, and a payment certificate and subcontractor reconciliation were issued confirming the amount due. Despite this, the certified amount of R40,857.20 has remained outstanding since May 2025. Numerous follow-ups have been made via email and telephone in an effort to resolve the matter. Unfortunately, Jean Hugo and Phillip Muller have not responded to emails or returned calls regarding the outstanding payment. This outstanding payment has had a significant impact on our small business, and we remain hopeful that JW Hugo Western Cape (Pty) Ltd will honour their contractual and certified payment obligations. This review reflects our experience as a subcontractor.
To date, JW Hugo Western Cape (Pty) Ltd has not responded to this review or to direct communication regarding the outstanding certified payment of R40,857.20, which has been due since May 2025.
