The worst experience in buying a vehicle I have ever had and Jubilee Motors/Mahindra Springs won the prize.

The worst experience in buying a vehicle I have ever had and Jubilee Motors/Mahindra Springs won the prize. In summary I shouldn’t have bought a vehicle from Jubilee Motors in the first place, but I was so impressed with their logo advertising their dedication to God, that I truly believed that this is the one and only second hand dealer that I can trust. Quite sadly it was disastrous from the outset and I should have listened to my instinct to cancel the deal when the sales person went back on his first promise i.e. such as replacing the wrong size tyres on the vehicle. Every other promise of fixing everything else on the car was empty promises, especially since they received payment form the bank. Long story short, I ended up with 50K out of pocket expenses just to get the vehicle up to standard after it was delivered. According to the sales person it was “spotless” and ready for delivery. The delivery date was delayed 3 times and when the delivery date arrived on Monday 26 August 2019, the manual and service book was outstanding, the temporary licence not prepared, the interior and seats were dirty and the car smelly. Front Tyres (make, size, height etc.) differed from the rear. The funny noise was as a result of incorrect size tyres and also it turned that the discs drums and brake pads, front and rear, to be replaced . The Sales staff, Sales Manager, Dealership Principal as well as one of the directors failed me horribly and therefore, I have no option but to make these facts know to the public and other potential buyers. Let’s start off with a list of problems in my journey with Jubilee Motors AKA Liza Motors and Mahindra Springs AKA Liza Motors. I allowed the dealership to work with my finance application, which they messed up and my application was declined. (First time in my life). The first sales person loaded the application with all sorts of extras. (Such as an extended warranty, which I did not request, since the vehicle still has an existing active warranty from the manufacturer) I found that the same vehicle is advertised on the internet for 20k cheaper. (Refer to the following link:https://www.cars.co.za/for-sale/used/2015-Hyundai-iX35-1.7-CRDi-Premium-Gauteng-Springs/***/. I still have a soft and hard copy of the detail of the Adverti*****t. I therefore obtained an OTP with this price when I subsequently dealt with my own finance application and it was pre-approved within one day with an impressing interest rate of prime plus 0.4%. By choice, we landed up with a different sales person when my finance was pre-approved. After I secured my own finance, the second sales person tried the same trick as the first, by submitting wrong documentation to the bank and he also tried to slip in the higher price, extended warranty and added an additional 10K for registration, licence, service, delivery etc. (The internet adverti*****t did not mention that these fees were excluded from the price.) My banker informed me of the additional amounts and I confirmed it was incorrect. The bank then dealt with the second sales person to obtain the correct GOTP. After this engagement the sales person re-submitted documents and AGAIN tried to slip in the extended warranty (and I re-iterate that there is an active warranty on the vehicle as confirmed with the manufacturer). The bank had to request the correct documents for the 3rd time. In the final event, I agreed that I will pay the price advertised and the 10k extra for the services such as reg, licencing, service and delivery costs). When the dealership realised that they are unable to manipulate my finance application with the bank any further, they started going back on promises such as replacing the front tyres with the correct size. The rear tyres were also running on its indicators and I realised that I would have to replace all the tyres. (It was discovered after I took delivery that the spare wheel had a 3rd different size of tyre and complete different rim size for this vehicle) I battled to get the service book out of the sales person and they kept on saying the spare wheel was locked up in the storeroom, but they would ensure that it would be loaded in the boot when I collect the vehicle. I requested my nephew, also working in the motor industry, to assist me with checking the vehicle before I sign up. Needless to say, additional hidden damage was discovered but things that I would able to sort out with the assistance of my nephew. . A spare wheel was loaded in the boot as promised, but the rim and tyre were a different size to the rest of the vehicle tyres (and note that the rear and back already differed in size and now the spare is misaligned with all other sizes.). We only discovered this when my nephew took the vehicle for 5 new tyres. When I took this up with the dealer principal and one of the directors, the principal responded that it is a spare wheel (emergency wheel in my vocabulary) and it would make no difference to the safety or other features of the vehicle if the rim size differs from the rest. [I.e. take note 16” spare (wrong rim size) versus 17” all around (correct rim size). In an emergency situation, one cannot afford mistakes. My dad taught me that an emergency wheel must always be functional and instantly ready for use. He taught my mom and all his children how to change a tyre and always re-iterated how pivotal it is to check the spare tyre FREQUENTLY. Even something small as an apology would have made me feel better, but it is quite clear that the dealership didn’t care a dame for their customers’ as they have already received their full payment 3 days prior to delivery, tried to convince me that a different rim size is a non-issue and they are not going to EXCHANGE the spare wheel with another wheel in their storeroom. At that stage I received so many signs that I should have backed out of this transaction, but I ignored my instinct because the banner of Jubilee Motors was so promising and honesty was assumed to be one of the characteristics of this particular second hand dealer. After taking delivery, I had to purchase 5 new tyres, 1 rim of the correct size for the spare wheel, pay for wheel alignment, balancing and fitment of the tyres. (At this stage I was approximately 20k out of pocket related to the expenses of the rim and 5 tyres only). This was not the end of the damage. I took the vehicle for service at the manufacturer under the active service plan. The service provider then informed me that brakes had to be replaced all around (estimate received from the approved multi franchise service provider amounted to another R16 549.40). Not sure how the vehicle passed the roadworthy test with nonstandard tyres and brakes in such a condition. The air conditioner also had to be serviced at an additional amount of R690 (not covered by a service plan). According to the dealership they have replaced the one wiper blade before I took it from the floor on Monday 27 August 2019, but when Hyundai serviced the vehicle, both wiper blades had to be replaced, and I quote from the service record on 28 August 2019, “Wiper blades starting to leave streaks – additional charge required R519-00 This is also not included in a service plan). I had to clean, disinfect and refresh the interior, at additional cost of R700. Latter incidents are examples of the least of my problems, but it goes to show (even the little things that can make or break a name), did not receive attention. The sales person thinks that a bouquet with champagne and eatery sells a vehicle. Really!!
