Low-grade product and *********** staff

Avoid. I paid thousands of rands and waited weeks for a piece of sub-standard furniture from this ***** business. You think you're supporting a family business where you'd not be treated like a number as with a large corporate, only to be taken for a ride. Don't make the same mistake I made.

Even though Francois proudly proclaims that he's "been doing this for six years", Joubert Furniture is an amateurish operation that doesn't put any value on quality or customer service whatsoever.

Some details of my experience:

- I accepted (and paid for) a quote that Charné prepared, only to be contacted two weeks later to hear they made a mistake and it would cost 20% more. They already had the bulk of the money, so I had to pay up - the first episode of this racket. - I was told that the couch would be ready in 2-3 weeks. When no one contacted me about delivery by the due date, I had to take it upon myself to get some reaction out of one of them. I got hold of Annie, who said it could only be delivered on the Saturday or the following week. I messaged back that I would take delivery on the Monday. - The next day, a holiday, Francois messaged that they were closed and I'd get an update the following day. (Keep in mind that my message to his was 08:30 on the day preceding the holiday, when delivery was due, and that Annie had already promised delivery by Monday when he kicked this can down the road.) - Monday noon came and went, and again I had to go through the rigamaroll of coaxing some response out of these people. They couldn't make Monday, so it had to be Tuesday - what time would suit me? When I asked Annie why no one contacted me, she literally just breathed into the phone without saying a word. I let them know 09:30 on Tuesday would suit me (since they asked). - Tuesday, four and a half hours late, they showed up with the couch, but it wasn't the colour I ordered. Luckily I asked the delivery guy, Jolly, to show me the colour on their charts and then saw that two different colours had the same code. (Luckily I took a photo of the colour chart on his phone, so I had the proof that they had made a mistake, otherwise who knows what they'd try to pull.) They said they'd replace the couch and I could keep the wrong one in the mean time. - Fast forward 2.5 weeks, and I get a call saying they'd be ready to deliver the following day - they'd call me the next morning with a time. Again I had to follow up with them by 11 the next day, since no one deemed it necessary to keep me informed. - I finally got the couch, but it was clearly a poor-quality rush job. There was a large gap on one side (but not on the the other side, and not on the first couch). When I asked Jolly if it looked right to him, he said not in his opinion. - Also, there were no hooks to link the two couch parts together. Jolly had to take the hooks off the first couch and put them on the new one. - I asked Jolly to discuss my concern with Francois. He called him, and after some reprimands from Annie/Charné ("Why do you call this number!?"), he had Francois on the phone. After a short discussion he gave the phone to me. Francois told me the couch parts couldn't ever be 100% flush. When I told him the other side of the couch was close to 100% flush, he asked to speak to Jolly again, only to hang up after a few seconds, and leaving Jolly to deal with my concerns. All Jolly could say was that he didn't make the couch, he was just delivering it. Such ***ardly behaviour from the "baas" - hiding behind your delivery guy to deal with questions about his sub-standard product and lack of integrity . - After the truck left, I sent Francois and Charné/Annie pictures of my issue. Francois claimed that he his couch at home looked the same and that this was normal. (I somehow doubt that.) Annie/Charné never rep**** (as expected).

Thousands of rands and six weeks later, I'm so disappointed for being stuck with a piece of second-rate, low-grade furniture. Support Joubert Furniture at your peril.
